Iran’s referee couple to judge at Asian handball tourney

TEHRAN, May 16 (MNA) – Referee couple of Iran has been invited to officiate at 2016 Asian Men's Youth Handball Championship to convene in Jordan.

Following a successful attendance at a referee training course held by Asian Handball Federation Playing Rules and Referees Commission (AHF/PRC), two Iranian referees have been invited by the Asian federation to umpire at the upcoming Asian tournament.

Iran’s referee couple, comprising Mehdi Tavakoli and Saeid Valadkhanian, will judge at Asian Men's Junior Handball Championship to be held from 22 July to 1 August in Amman of Jordan.

Iranian national junior handball team has been draw in Group A of the tourney to compete with Uzbekistan and host Jordan while Group B consists of Japan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine.

Meanwhile, South Korea, Bahrain and India have been placed in Group C of the sportive event while Group D is composed of four teams including Qatar, Iraq, the UAE and China.

The Asian event is the official competition for youth men's national handball teams of Asia, and takes place every two years. In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the 2017 IHF Men's Junior World Championship to take place at Algeria.
