Iran, Senegal to mull over nano coop.

TEHRAN, Apr. 15 (MNA) – Iran and Senegal will ink a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the course of the recent visit of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and senior managers in the field of nanotechnology to Senegal.

Given the above issue, an expert-level session was held between Iranian and Senegalese officials in various fields especially nanotechnology.

Ali Morteza Birang Head of International Interactions Center of Presidential Deputy for Science and Technology expounded on Iran’s technological achievements especially in the knowledge-based economic sector and development of IT parks and knowledge-based companies.

Reza Asadifard Manager of Market and Industry Working Group of Presidential Deputy for Science and Technology was the next speaker who expressed Iran’s readiness for sharing its experiences in the field of development of nanotechnology with Senegal.

For his part, Senegal's Minister of Scientific Research and Innovation pointed to the competent young manpower in his country and added, “generation of employment opportunities for the young and educated population is one of the priorities of his country.”

Construction operation of 100 equipped laboratories is underway in Senegal, the minister reiterated.

In this get-together meeting, chances of joint cooperation in the infrastructure and education development sector in the field of nanotechnology was discussed.

It is stipulated that a cooperation agreement will be inked by Iranian lecturers to take advantage of fruitful experience of Iran in the development of nanotechnology laboratories in this African country.

Organizing training courses especially in the field of nanotechnology, setting up specialized laboratory in the field of nanotechnology, etc. was reported as one of the important opportunities which help Senegalese experts use nanotechnology in the sector of agriculture and wastewater treatment, the report concluded.
