China’s FM says hopeful about JCPOA

TEHRAN, May 13 (MNA) – In a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is visiting Beijing, Chinese top diplomat Wang Yi said that he hopes to see good results for the JCPOA and Iran in the pro-JCPOA visits of Mr. Zarif.

In a bid to meet Chinese officials to discuss the JCPOA and exchange views on possibility of continuing the deal on the condition that China gives assurance to Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Chinese capital city of Beijing early on Sunday.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Zarif met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. The Iranian diplomatic chief is slated to visit Moscow and Brussels after his short stay in Beijing.

“Iran-China relations were very good before the JCPOA and these good relations continued after the signing of the nuclear deal as China is the best trade partner of the Islamic Republic of Iran with a wide margin with the second in the list,” asserted Mr. Zarif reassuring that, “even today we are sure that the Chinese are still beside us.”

“Iran and China have strategic joint partnership and these relations will still go on,” reiterated the Iranian diplomatic chief.

“I have travelled to China in a bid to meet with the remaining members of the JCPOA because China has always been a friend of rainy days,” added Mr. Zarif.

The Chinese top diplomat, in this meeting, for his part, voiced his content with the point that Mr. Zarif started his pro-JCPOA tour from China and voiced hope that the visit be of great benefit for the JCPOA and Iran.
