3 US fighter jets make emergency landings

TEHRAN, Oct. 07 (MNA) –Three US Air Force F-16 fighter jets made emergency landings at an airport in central Japan on Saturday.

The 3 jet fighters are stationed at the US Misawa Air Base in Aomori Prefecture, northern Japan. They touched down at Komatsu Airport in Ishikawa Prefecture in the afternoon, reported NHK.

Japan's Defense Ministry says one of the jets developed engine trouble. The aircraft were returning to Misawa from Nagasaki Airport, western Japan.

The pilots all landed their jets safely. US forces are investigating in the cause of the trouble.

The emergency landing forced a civilian flight arriving from Okinawa to be delayed for about 5 minutes.
