During the session of Asian Basketball Confederation (ABS) underway in India, Iran’s suggestion to host the U18 basketball cup as well as the FIBA Asian Challenge was approved by relevant authorities as well as all present members.
The meeting also addressed Iran’s proposal to hold the Asian club championship while a final decision was not reached in this regard.
Mahmoud Mashhoon and Ali Towfigh, the senior officials of the Iranian Basketball Federation (IBF), have travelled to India to attend the ABS summit.
Iran have won the FIBA Asian Championship three times since 2007, once each in Japan (2007), China (2009) and the Philippines (2013).
