Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a meeting with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in Doha on Thursday.
The Iranian foreign ministry released a readout of the meeting between Araghchi and Qatari prime minister and foreign minister Al Thani, saying that "The two sides discussed the expansion of relations between Tehran and Doha, as well as issues of mutual interest in the regional and international arena, especially the developments in Lebanon and Palestine and the need to stop the warmongering and crimes of the Zionist regime."
Referring to the policy of good neighborliness and trying to expand all-out relations with neighbors as an important priority of the 14th government under President Masoud Pezeshkian in order to achieve peace, stability, security as well as regional development and prosperity, the Iranian foreign minister said that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Qatar would be fraternal and evaluated forward, stressing the implementation of previous agreements between the two countries.
Reviewing the efforts of the two countries to stop the war in Gaza and Lebanon and appreciating Qatar's constructive role in that regard, Araghchi considered the Zionist regime's warmongering as the main cause of insecurity and instability in the region and called for the use of all the potential and means in the region to stop the war and preventing the continuation of genocide and infrastructure destruction in Lebanon and Palestine.
The Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, for his part, emphasized the continuation of close and friendly relations between Qatar and the Islamic Republic of Iran and the expansion of relations in line with the will of the leaders of the two countries.
He also referred to the process of consultations between the two countries about the regional developments, calling for regional cooperation to stop the war and crimes of the Zionist regime, achieve stability and lasting security in the region, and help the people of Palestine and Lebanon.
The Iranian diplomat has been on a regional tour he says is aimed at finding ways of ending Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
He arrived in Qatar late last night after completing a trip to Saudi Arabia. Araghchi visited Lebanon and Syria before that, despite the intense Israeli bombing of the two countries.
As we previously reported, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has met his Qatari counterpart and prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, in Doha.
After the meeting, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei took to the X to say that the two officials held “important consultations” on developments in the region.
“It is only responsible for all states to maximize their efforts to shield our region against an imposed catastrophe by stopping genocide in Gaza and aggression on Lebanon,” he said.
