Deputy Head of Iran's Union of Sellers and Exporters of Saffron Gholamreza Miri said “a total of 34.179 tons of saffron was exported in the timespan of March 20 to June 20.”
According to him, the figure has remained constant compared with the same period a year earlier. “The amount of exported saffron in the time period amounted to about 15 million dollars; the figure mounted to 49 million dollars a year before.”
Miri evaluated market conditions for the Iranian product as promising; “fortunately, fluctuations in saffron prices have stopped over the three months as demand and supply have reached a balanced condition.”
The official recalled that saffron prices have dropped by about 16 to 32 dollars adding “at the present time, the minimum price of Iranian saffron is 1667 dollars per kilogram while the maximum figure resides around 2014 dollars.”
