Iran, Oman share points in Muscat

MUSCAT, Oct. 09 (MNA) – Iran and Oman played in their fourth event of Group D of the qualifying matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and ended 1-1 at the end of the event.

Iranian Cheetahs lined up against Oman men's national football team, on Thursday, in an away qualifying event for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and bagged home a point to still dominate the pool D.

National Team staged a weak performance at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat in their bad day but were lucky enough to escape the 1-0 defeat.

Seven minutes into the second half, Saad al-Mukhaini scored for hosts and Oman lead 1-0 till the 70th minute when Jalal Hosseini equalized for Persians after Oman’s defense failed to clear the ball out.

The next fixture for Iranian footballers will be on November 12, when they host Turkmenistan in their next Group D qualifier match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.
