The ceremonies include crucifixion, baptism and matrimony. Saint Thaddeus Church is the host of both Iranian and world Christians.

According to Christian historian, Moses Khorenatsi, one of the disciples of Jesus Christ (A), has been buried in this church.

One of the oldest churches in the world of Christianity, Thaddeus Church is very popular among Christians.

Saint Thaddeus Church or locally known as "Qara Kelisa" is situated in 20 kilometers northeast of Chalderan and seven kilometers from Qara Ziaudin near a village with the same name.

According to an extant manuscript, the church was totally destroyed in early 14th century by a deadly earthquake and was immediately reconstructed by an Christian religious leader.

The church has two big and small domes. Last year, the file of the church was presented to UNESCO to be registered in the list of world as cultural heritage.
