U.S. to host Zolfonun in August

TEHRAN, June 17 (MNA) -- Zolfonun traditional music ensemble will be heading to the United States in August to perform at Indiana University.

Master Jalal Zolfonun accompanied by his son Soheil will be playing the tar, said member Arash Zanganeh, also adding that he will be playing the daf.

 

All the pieces have been composed by master Zolfonun, he added.

 

 

Edinburgh festival to screen Iranian “A Light in the Fog”

 

TEHRAN -- The Iranian film “A Light in the Fog” by director Panahbarkhoda Rezaii is an entry in the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

 

The American film “Away We Go” was the opening movie on June 17. President of this year’s Michael Powell Jury is “Atonement” director Joe Wright. Joining him on the jury are journalist and author Janet Street-Porter, USA Today film critic Claudia Puig, Academy Award nominee actor Frank Langella and acclaimed Australian actor Sacha Horler.

 

“A Boy Called Dad” (Brian Percival), “The Calling” (Jan Dunn), “Crying with Laughter” (Justin Molotnikov), “Fish Tank” (Andrea Arnold) and “Kicks” (Lindy Heymann) are among the entries this year.
