TEHRAN, May 30 (MNA) –The acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani emphasized endogenous security as Iran's regional security doctrine, saying that Iran is committed to playing an effective role in the stability and security of the Caucasus.

The acting foreign minister Ali Bagheri Kani and the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan have discussed further promotion of relations in a telephone conversation.

Iran's Foreign Ministry said in a Thursday statement that Bagheri Kani thanked Armenian authorities for sending messages of condolences to Iran and hailed the prime minister's visit to Tehran.

He said Iran's regional security doctrine is based on relying on the countries in the region, reiterating Iran's commitment to play an effective role in securing lasting security and stability in the Caucasus region

He also expressed Tehran's keenness to implement the agreements already signed with Yerevan and voiced the country's readiness to help the flood-hit people in Armenia.

The Armenian foreign minister, for his part, said his country will continue cooperation with Iran to achieve common goals.

Mirzoyan added that Iran plays a leading role in promoting peace in the South Caucasus region.

According to the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Mirzoyan once again expressed his condolences to Bagheri Kani over the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six of their companions in a helicopter crash earlier this month.

It pointed to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to Tehran on May 22 to take part in memorial services for the deceased Iranian president and his entourage, and said the top Iranian and Armenian diplomats emphasized that the good-neighborly relations between the two countries and nations are deep, strong, and will continue.

In a meeting with the Armenian prime minister, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said Iran-Armenia relations have some opponents, therefore, the issue of the bilateral relations should be addressed with “attention and care.”

Mirzoyan and Bagheri Kani exchanged views about bilateral and regional issues, expressing their willingness to implement the agreements reached so far between Tehran and Yerevan and to ensure the current projects will proceed.

Bagheri Kani expressed his condolences over the human casualties and damage caused by floods in the Tavush and Lori regions of Armenia.
