Iranian athletes finish work at Paralympics with 24 medals

TEHRAN, Sep. 04 (MNA) – The Iranian athletes finished their work at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics with 24 medals and in 12th place on the table of medals.

The national Iranian sitting volleyball team defeated the team of Russia in the final of the 2020 Paralympics on Saturday, the 11th day of the competitions.

Also, Parataekwondoka Asghar Azizi Aghdam won a gold medal on Saturday, while Sajjad Mohammadian won a silver medal in shot put contests.

Furthermore, on Saturday, Sadegh Beit Sayah from Iran seized a silver medal in the javelin throw.

However, the Iranian mixed team in recurve archery Gholamreza Rahimi and Zahra Nemati fail to secure a medal for their country. 

With the medals collected on Saturday, Iran finished 12th place at Tokyo Paralympics with 12 gold medals, 11 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

The authorities of the Ministery of Sports and Youth thanked the para-athletes for their medals and offered congratulations.
