Track and field brought different medals for Iranian camp. In women’s discus throw F57 Class, Azam Khodayari set her new record of 24.11 meters to win silver medal. Iran’s second representative Fatemeh Montazeri stood only next to her fellow compatriot, thus securing bronze. In men’s javelin F33/34 Class, Mohsen Kaedi won silver with a record of 33.4 meters. Siamak Slaleh Farajzadeh came only fifth.
In men’s weight throw F41 Class, Sadeq Beit Sayyah also won silver with 11.42 meters as his record. This was the 7th silver medal in Iranian camp. Iraqi thrower threw 5 centimeters more than Sayyah to snatch the gold medal. In men’s 200M T47 Class, Ahmad Ojaqlou came fourth. In men’s 1500M event T20 Class, Peyman Nasiri set a new record of 4 minutes and 29 milliseconds, winning gold medal which he dedicated, taking Iran’s national flag on a well deserved lap of honour, to Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s IRGC Qods forces. This was Iran’s fifth gold medal.
In men’s weightlifting, Iran’s -49Kg. Class lost the chances for medal. Mohammad Karimi controlled 149Kg. in first attempt; in second attempt, he managed to control 150Kg; however, in third attempt, he was defeated by 156Kg., thus giving away chances for medal and standing in fourth place after Vietnamese Li Von Kong who won gold medal with 181.5Kg., and Iraqi weightlifter who came second to won silver medal. Indian Farman Basha won bronze medal.
In men’s swimming, Shahin Izadyar came second in a close race for gold in 50m event with 25.44 seconds. Chinese Lin touched the finish line short moments before Izadyar to secure gold for himself with 25.33 seconds.
