Leader congratulates IRIP, graduating cadets on occasion of Police Week

TEHRAN, Oct. 6 (MNA) -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday congratulated the Islamic Republic of Iran Police (IRIP) on the occasion of Police Week.

In an address delivered at the graduation ceremony of the Police Academy, the Supreme Leader said that maintaining law and order is the main task of the police, adding that criminals must be dealt with in a serious manner.

He also advised police officers to show respect toward the people in their everyday interactions with them.

Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his appreciation for the improved performance of the IRIP and said that scientific planning, strong administration, and relentless efforts are needed to obtain better results in the campaign to maintain law and order.

The Supreme Leader also stressed that the IRIP should make greater efforts to meet the expectations of the people.

"The people expect the police to carry out their task strongly, vigilantly, honestly, rapidly, and with a sense of understanding," he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to say that the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the safest countries in the world, adding that the presence of interventionist forces in various countries has caused social and cultural disruption.

The Leader expressed regret over the civilian casualties in Iraq and Palestine and the wanton massacre of children, women, and other innocent people in the name of the campaign against terrorism.

"Such massacres will not eradicate terrorism, but on the contrary will reinvigorate popular resistance and prepare the ground for a violent backlash in the region and the entire world," Ayatollah Khamenei said in reference to the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza and the occupying forces’ continuing acts of aggression in Iraq.

"As long as the international community remains silent about these ongoing crimes, there will be no support for human rights and no action can represent the campaign against terrorism," the Leader observed.

Prior to the Supreme Leader's remarks, IRIP commander Brigadier General Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf delivered a report on the activities and achievements of the police.
