Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received for a meeting on Tuesday the visiting prime minister of Iraq, who visited Tehran for new Iranian president's inauguration earlier in the day.
The Leader expressed appreciation to the Iraqi government and people for their nice hospitality toward the Iranian pilgrims, hailing the Iraqi government for measures to ensure the security of pilgrims during Arbaeen.
Ayatollah Khamenei also pointed to the memorandums and documents signed between Iran and Iraq during the administration of late Martyr Ebrahim Raeisi, emphasizing the need to pursue the implementation and operationalization of those bilateral agreements during the new administration.
The leader of the Islamic Revolution expressed his satisfaction with the Sudanese government's actions in tackling the problems in Iraq, further expressing his satisfaction with the existing coordination and cooperation between the Iraqi political factions.
In the meeting in which Iranian vice president Mohammadreza Aref was attending, Al Sudani, for his part, congratulated successful elections in Iran and the victory of the new Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian and stressed that "The agreements reached between Iran and Iraq in the new era should be implemented."
The Iraqi Prime Minister also thanked the Islamic Republic of Iran for its support for the Palestinians and its stances on the crimes committed by the Zionist regime in Gaza, saying that, "The Zionist regime has crossed all international and humanitarian red lines." He added that the Iraqi government is in constant contact with countries that share a same stance against the Zionist regime's crimes.
Al Sudani went on to say that the huge Arbaeen ceremony in Iraq is an opportunity to take a stance against the crimes of the Zionist regime and to familiarize Muslims, especially the youth, with the foundations and teachings of Imam Hussain's (pbuh) uprising against oppressors.
