Iran’s defensive power aimed at establishing peace in region: official

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) – Iranian Deputy Defense Minister Brigadier General Ghasem Taghizadeh said that Iran’s defensive power is aimed at establishing and strengthening peace and security in the region.

He made the remarks in a Friday meeting with Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Hanura Wiranto in Jakarta.

Pointing to the two nation’s common grounds in culture and religion, Taghizadeh described the role of the two countries in strengthening security in the southeast and southwest Asia as crucial.

He went on to say that Iran has never started a war with its neighboring states throughout its contemporary history.

Touching upon US unilateral sanctions against Iran, he noted that these measures are a continuation of US’ violations of international agreements.

Wiranto, for his part, said that the relations between Iran and Indonesia have always been based on mutual respect.

Elsewhere, pointing to Iran’s technological capacity, the Indonesian minister called for increased cooperation between the two countries and also among Islamic states.

Taghizadeh is in Indonesia to visit Indo Defence Expo & Forum, a 4-day event being held from 7th November to 10th November 2018 at Jakarta’s JIExpo Kemayoran. This event showcases product from Security & Defense industry.
