Mohammad Javad Dehghani, President of Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC), said Iran produced 52,183 articles in 2017, which gained the country the world's top position in scientific output.
Noting that the figure was 47,901 in 2016, Dehghani said Iran has gained a growth rate of 8.9 percent in 2017 compared to the previous year.
Russia and China followed Iran with 6.7 percent and 4.3 percent scientific output growth rates, respectively, said the President of ISC.
He added that according to the statistics released by the Web of Science platform, Iran produced 30947, 31410, 33931, 40736, 47901, and 52183 in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 respectively. Thus, the country's production of science has increased by more than 1.6 times from 30947 in 2012 to 52,183 in 2017.
