Iranian karateka atop WKF rankings

TEHRAN, Nov. 07 (MNA) – Three Iranian karate practitioners enjoy best positions in their weight categories according to the latest rankings released by the World Karate Federation (WKF).

In the WKF latest standings, Barbod Sedaghat of Iran has the top position in -76kg Junior Kumite Male division with a total of 2850 points. Adi Gyurik from Spain and Morocco’s Nabil Ech-chabbi stand second and third with 1635 and 1500 points, respectively.

Also, Avishan Bagheri (-55kg) has occupied the first place in the ranking list for U21 Kumite Female with as many as 2670 points. Second and third positions of the same division belong to Sabrina Pereira of Brazil and Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Mukhtar.

Iran’s other top-ranking is Hadiseh Jamal who has earned 1950 points in the Junior Kata Female category. Japan’s Rina Morimoto and Italy’s Carolina Amato follow the Iranian karateka in the latest ranking list.

Moreover, Iran’s Majid Nikohemmat has landed in the second place of Junior Kumite Male group with 2265 points. Rikito Shamada has bettered the Iranian karate practitioner in the same category while Kazakhstan’s Nurtiles Tynysbek has occupied the third position.

Erfan Davoudi ranks second in Cadet Kumite Male -63kg group same as Shabnam Vahedi in the U21 Kumite Female +68kg division.

Meanwhile, Sarah Bahmanyar ranks third in U21 Kumite Femal -50kg weight category. Thalia Terrero of Domincan Republic and Spain’s Nadia Gomez stand first and second in the same section. Yet another Iranian athlete who has been placed in the third position on the ranking list is Mehdi Ghararizadeh.
