Two junior karatekas win gold, silver at World C’ships

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (MNA) – Avishan Bagheri and Sara Bahmanyar, two karate practitioners from Gilan managed to win two gold and silver medals at World Junior, Cadet and U21 Championships 2017 underway in Spain.

Avishan Bagheri won the gold medal at -55 kg division and Sara Bahmanyar won the silver medal at -50 kg category.

With the two new medals, Iran’s national karate team ranked up to the fifth place by end of the third day of international karate competitions in Spain.

The 10th edition of World Cadet, Junior and Sub21 Championships kicked off on October 25 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife of Spain and will run through October 25.

The Iranian caravan has so far bagged one gold medal by Sedaghat, one silver by Majid Nikuhemat and four bronze medals by Ahmadreza Mahmoudi, Hadiseh Jamal, Ghasem Khubroo as well as the Female Kata Team comprising Yeganeh Shahpari, Golnaz Shahzeidi as well as Erfaneh Mesah.

The tournament is the benchmark event for our youngest karatekas, being the way to participate at the Senior Championships, and in our long-awaited Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020.
