The London 2012 and Rio 2016 gold medallist Zahra Nemati topped the recurve women’s open ranking round with 648 in total and won the gold medal at the 2017 World Archery Para Championships in Beijing by defeating Merve Nur Eroglu of Turkey in a 6-2 win.
Zahra Nemati was named Para archer of 2016 by World Archery at a gala held in Las Vegas, USA, in February. The 32-year-old took up archery after suffering a spinal cord injury in 2003.
Meanwhile, Iran’s recurve women open team finished fourth, losing the top three places to China, Russia and Italy. In recurved mixed team open, Iranian archers managed to finish third and earn a bronze medal.
The 2017 World Archery Para Championships run 12-17 September in Beijing, China.
