Iranian para archers to attend World C’ships in Beijing

TEHRAN, Sep. 10 (MNA) – A total of 12 Iranian athletes will travel to the Chinese capital to take part at 2017 World Para Archery Championships.

The 2017 World Para and VI Championships will be conducted in Beijing, China from the 12th September to 17th September 2017.

Iran’s hopes are pinned on Hadi Nouri, Somayeh Rahimi, Ali Sina Menshazadeh, Somayeh Abbaspour, Zahra Nemati, Ramazan Biabani, Farzaneh Asghari, Razieh Shirmohammadi, Zahra Delkhosh, Gholmareza Rahimi, Asghar Zareinejad as well as Pouria Jalalipour.

Majid Kehtari will lead the Iranian para archery squad as head coach while Jebraeil Ebadi and Leila Sakhaeifar will accompany the Persian team as coaches.

Para archers of Iran departed Tehran for the Chinese capital of Beijing on Friday and are slated to begin training sessions today.

Para archery was the first sport where wheelchair athletes had organized competition and was one of the original Paralympic sports at Rome 1960. In Para archery, the target size and distance archers stand from the target differs based on the competition category.
