N-deal aims to foster economic activity

TEHRAN, Jul. 04 (MNA) – Iran’s President Rouhani has outlined the main purpose of the nuclear deal as to provide opportunities for economic prosperity.

Speaking at the first joint session of the government and the 10th Parliament, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said the government is committed to resolve the country’s economic issues asserting “one aim pursued during the nuclear talks was to foster a positive move in economy since sanction years conditions were in contradiction with the dignity of the Iranian nation.”

He pointed to the government’s extensive programs to reduce inflation, overcome recession as well as to move towards growth and development; “a synergy among all forces and organizations is required for economic prosperity and employment for the youth.”

Rouhani, while recalling to previous presidential and parliamentary elections, said “we owe our political legitimacy to people’s votes and we are obliged to protect the interests of the country in addition to addressing the nation’s demands and problems.”

The Iranian president underlined that people want economic problems to be dealt with adding “we could enjoy better conditions compared with neighboring countries; achieving a growth of eight percent in economy, one-digit inflation and attraction of domestic and foreign investment are not unattainable objectives.”

Rouhani further referred to the guidelines of the Leader over the 20-Year Vision Plan asserting “half-way through the plan, our performance has not been completely satisfactory given the high oil sale revenues in previous years.”

“Since taking office, the incumbent government has been after solving economic issues,” underlined the official noting “by resolving the nuclear issue, we aimed to pave the way for economic activity and growth, youth employment, investment, technology progress and the exports market.”

“The nuclear deal mainly aimed to remove the sanctions in order to provide opportunities for economic activity,” he continued.

He further stressed that the government is much ahead of the envisaged plan to reduce inflation though many had deemed it as impossible.

Rouhani emphasized that the country is bound to face numerous economic and social problems in the coming years if the government fails to create prosperity and employment conditions, especially for educated people.

“These issues can only be solved by cooperation between the government and the Parliament,” underscored the official.

Stressing the need for domestic and foreign investment as prerequisites to prosperity, the Iranian President said “proper business atmosphere should be present in order to absorb necessary capitals.”

“The country’s ranking in business climate has improved from 153 to 188,” said Rouhani adding “yet, further effort is needed to alleviate existing problems.”

Iran’s President, while touching upon banking issues, underlined that country’s banking system must become organized in which regard the government has made a proper plan to be unveiled in the coming days.

He further called for taking some urgent actions in order to address banking issues; “the government would not falter an apology whenever needed as it is done in the interest of the nation and the country,” he concluded.
