The Prime Minister of the German state of Lower Saxony, Stephan Weil, is to arrive in Tehran on April 15, according to the embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Tehran.
Weil is the first German prime minister who visits Tehran after the nuclear deal of July 14, between Tehran and 5+1, and along with his big economic and media delegation will stay in Tehran till April 19.
During his 4 day stay in Tehran, he will meet with many senior Iranian officials in addition to attending the opening ceremony of the International Neuroscience center of Tehran.
Before leaving for Tehran, he has told the local media that it is his first time to Iran and he is going to meet a country with thousands of years of civilization.
He has also voiced content that the tensions between Tehran and Berlin has remarkably subsided and hoped that the traditional economic ties between the two countries resume.
Iran, as a country with a population of 80 million is an attractive country for Saxony and I am responsible to open the doors, has said the German official to the local media according to the statement.
Stephan Weil, who also represents the German state of Lower Saxony on Volkswagen’s supervisory board, has been the PM of the Lower Saxony state since 19 February 2013.
Lower Saxony is the second in area and fourth in population of German States has an economy mainly based on agriculture with other sectors like mining, tourism, and manufacturing as it homes five production plants of the giant car maker Volkswagen
