Spanish govt. ratifies not to accept Independence Statement

MADRID, Nov. 07 (MNA) – The Spanish Government ratified yesterday that it would immediately appeal against an independence statement, for being unconstitutional, if the Catalan Parliament approves that bill on Monday, as it was planned.

Government Vice President Soraya Saenz told the media after a Minister Council meeting that the minute the secessionist proposal is approved, the process to demand its suspension by the Constitutional Court will begin.

In that reference, Saenz clarified that legally, starting from the suspension of the motion, not even the Catalan regional authorities or any other public institution will be able to take any action against that decision.

The Constitutional Court rejected a motion presented by two parties to prevent the holding of the plenary session on Monday, but warned that it should be held according to the legislation and accepted three other appeals against the pro-independence process.

Saenz also asserted that every action on the fringes of the Constitution would have a response by the Government and the state.
