Iran breaks monopoly of water sweetening technology

TEHRAN, Jun. 07 (MNA) – Iran joined the group of five countries having access to technology of Osmosis-based water sweetening.

The Petrochemical Research and Technology Company unveiled the first technology of 4040 layer module for reverse osmosis of water sweetening on Saturday evening, IRNA reported.

The technology produced by the Petrochemical Research and Technology Company has almost completely used home-made equipment and each of the produced modules can produce 9 cubic meters of sweetened water per day.

Having applications in different industries, the technology of water sweetening has been so far monopolized by the US, Germany, South Korea, and Japan.

Since Iran is facing water shortage, this technology provides the opportunity for production of industrial water sweetening from saline water and different industrial and urban sewage systems.
