Farzin Haghparast, Head of Iran Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of East Azerbaijan, said on Monday that “the restoration of this bazaar started in 2007 and has continued till now; During the Government Week, however, the bazaar will be opened and will welcome interested visitors.”
“Osku’s bazaar has 15 domes and it dates back to Qajar period”, he asserted, “7 domes and 6 stores which had been completely destroyed are now fully restored; flooring the whole bazaar, paving the stores, and jointing the bricks of the bazaar’s façade, roof, front transom, front door, back door and arches insulation are some other restoring operations we have undertaken.”
Haghparast maintained that this bazaar is one of the most significant historical places of East Azerbaijan and it has cost some $111000 to restore and preserve it.
