Veteran pianist plays world classics

TEHRAN, June 9 (MNA) – A veteran pianist and teacher of music has said he will play piano recitals of world classics and memorable works of cinema.

In an interview to Mehr News, Mohsen Kouhestani said that he would play recitals in three forms of Iranian, memorable works of cinema, and world classics June 13-14. “The program will be a combination of buoyant and fine music more palatable to lovers of stylish music,” he added. “In the concert, I will incorporate Isfahan and Bayati Turk (Maqams) to music from Charlie Chaplin’s silent works and a world classic will end the concert,” he asserted.

The veteran musician told Mehr News that the recitals would satisfy the general audience not very familiar with the world of music. “No music would satisfy all and everywhere; this is true for everywhere in the world.  It is almost an established fact that pop music is always welcomed by the public more than any other musical genre,” said he, and that “so, we should not be concerned with the audience, since recitals have their own specific lovers.”

Kouhestani added that his achievement in music would be a prestigious work to bring different music genres to the Iranian public. “We, as artists, should create atmosphere that engages the audience and pins him down the seat,” he said.

The former head of Young Orchestra of Ministry of Culture music center also commented on the publicity of his new works. “The general trend is to avoid publicity about the new works in music so that we could sustain the suspense and public quest to find out about new works,” Kouhestani said, adding that “however, I will publicize the new works in music when they become final.”

Kouhestani had many performances with piano in Iran and other European and Asian countries.
