Syrian interior minister not dead: source

TEHRAN, Jan.5 (MNA) – Informed sources inside Syria has denied that Syria's interior minister Muhammad Ibrahim al-Shaar has died in a blast in interior ministry.

Informed sources from the Syrian interior ministry had it that Mohammad al-Shaar is healthy, but Hesham Bakhtiar, Head of Syrian National Security has been injured and undertaken a surgical operation.

Al Arabiya reported minutes ago that Syrian interior ministry has been killed during the suicide attack. Asef Showkat, Head of Intelligence and of Army Joint Chief of Staff has died and many others including high security officials participating in the meeting have been injured.

The reports had it that the attack has been suicide attack and no news has been revealed about the casualties, but unconfirmed stories on death of Syrian officials are reported. Analysts say that Al-Qaida-affiliated groups probably are behind the attack. Ayman al-Zawahiri, an Al-Qaida head, has been arrested in Syria.
