Karimi summoned for WC qualifiers

TEHRAN, May 1 (MNA) -- Ali Karimi was called up for Iran’s World Cup qualifiers against North Korea, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea.

Persepolis midfielder has not played for Iran since May 2008 after which he fell out with Iranian football officials.

Newly-appointed Iran’s football coach Afshin Ghotbi has invited him to the team.

Iran is scheduled to play North Korea on June 6. The team is fourth in the 2010 World Cup qualifiers in Group Two with six points, behind North and South Korea and Saudi Arabia respectively.
