Iran beats Libya at Futsal World Cup

TEHRAN, Oct. 5 (MNA)--Iran’s futsal team earned a convincing 4-2 win against African champion Libya in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

Iran had tied before with two-time defending champion Spain 3-3 in its opening match in Group D.

Mohammad Taheri gave Iran the lead in the 5th minute while Mohammad Hashemzadeh scored twice in 7th and 17th minutes. Mostafa Tayyebi sealed the valuable victory for Iran in the 32nd minute. 

Libyan Rabie and Rahoma opened Mostafa Nazari’s goal in 19th and 25th minutes.

Spain also defeated the Czech Republic 4-0 in another game and leads Group D with seven points.

Iran is in second place with four points, followed by the Czech Republic with three points.

Libya and Uruguay are in the bottom of the group without any points.

The Asian champion Iran will also play Uruguay on October 7.

The competitions are played in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia. The teams are divided into four groups of five, with the top two advancing to the next stage.
