Upon receiving his award, Kimiaii made a short remark and said that in those years before the Islamic Revolution, only one style of filmmaking was common whereas in the present time there one can choose between a wide array of styles.
Ebrahim Hatamikia, director of acclaimed films like “From Karkheh to Rein” and “The Glass Agency” was the next veteran filmmaker who was honored.
During his speech he said, “We must understand ourselves and breathe in this oxygen which has brought us together. I am proud of my generation and my background and I hope there would be more such gatherings.”
Director of “Deep Breath” Parviz Shahbazi was also awarded at the ceremony.
A tribute was also paid to auteur Nasser Taqvaii for his ingenious style. “Tranquility in the Presence of Others”, “Captain Khorshid”, and “Blank Paper” are amongst his previous credits.
His recent productions “Bitter Tea” and “Rumi and Zangi” are left unfinished because of several problems.
The ceremony ended with paying tribute to veteran producer Abbas Shabaviz.
