Iran loses to Australia at FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers

TEHRAN, Nov. 30 (MNA) – The Iranian national basketball team has lost the Friday match against Australia in the fifth window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers.

The match between Iran and Australia’s national basketball teams was held in Melbourne on Friday and ended 47 to 76 for Australia.

Three main players in Iranian team were absent in today’s match.

The match against Australia was the 9th match of the national Iranian basketball in the World Cup qualifiers. The Iranian squad had won 6 of its matches and had lost against Iraq and Japan.

The Iranian basketball players will take on Philippines on December 3 in Manila for their second match at the fifth window. They won their first leg against the South Asian country in Tehran.

Iran will have two other matches next year during the 6th window against Japan and Australia. It will face off Japan on March 21, 2019, and will host Australia in Tehran on February 24.

 A total of 80 national teams are playing in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers: In 4 regions: Africa, Americas, Europe and Asia (which includes Oceania); 6 windows of 9 days each, starting on Monday and finishing on Tuesday of the following week.
