At the UN General Assembly for the vote on resolution denouncing Trump’s decision to declare Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Israel, on December 15, 2017, Iran’s ambassador to the UN condemned the US action calling it an “illegal decision.”
Khoshroo slammed US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley’s threatening remarks and said the US once again blocked international efforts to find a solution to the Palestinian issue.
Iran’s ambassador continued that the US illegal decision to identify al-Quds as the capital of the Zionist regime and the transfer of its embassy to this holy city has made it clear that the United States is only seeking to maximize the interests of the Zionist regime and pays no attention to and respect for the legitimate rights of Palestinians.
Khoshroo added that the Palestinian issue has always been on the agenda of the United Nations since its inception, and, the international community has properly recognized the inalienable rights of the Palestinians for decades.
He stressed that the occupation of Israel is at the center of all crises and conflicts in the region and beyond.
Iran’s UN ambassador went on to say that the painful tragedy and the trauma of our region, which began almost a hundred year ago with the conspiracy of the Balfour Declaration, has now entered a new stage with the wrong, illegal and illegitimate promise of the US President to transfer the US embassy to the holy city of al-Quds. Iran condemns this unilateral US action, which aims to distort historical facts and replace them with imaginations.
Khoshroo concluded that Palestine is in the hearts and minds of all Muslims as well as all people who want peace in the world. Denying this fact means partnership with the occupation and illegal actions of the Zionist regime and ignoring the human conscience. In the current difficult circumstances, Iranian nation declares its solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian people.
