Islamic world in compelling need of convergence today

TEHRAN, Aug. 08 (MNA) – Iranian Parliament speaker said, under current circumstances, the turbulent Islamic world was sorely in need of any move for convergence of Muslims.

Ali Larijani made the remarks at a Monday meeting in Tehran with Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Department (CMD), Sheikulislam Haji Allahshukur Pashazade, and his accompanying delegation.

“Iran and Azerbaijan Republic are friend and brother countries who are on the same cultural wavelength and can therefore carry out positive measures in line with unity of Muslims,” speaker of the Iranian Parliament continued.

The official asserted that the Islamic world was in a critical condition which demanded resolution of ongoing issues through talks and dialogues in a bid to reach cultural convergence.

“An extremist group under the disguise of Islamic movement has taken the breath of Islamic countries giving way to enemies of Muslims,” noted Larijani calling for an end to the process.

The speaker, while emphasizing on use of sane and prudent minds in the Islamic world, reiterated that influential bodies with fertile minds need to be exploited in order to realize convergence and unity among Muslims since elevation of disagreements would prove detrimental.

At the end of his remarks, Ali Larijani pointed to the need to bolster economic and trade cooperation in order to bring the two nations together.

Also at the joint meeting, CMD Head Pashazade stated that he had attended President Rouhani’s inauguration ceremony on behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev who extended his warm greetings to Iranians.

He further expressed hope that all global issues will be resolved under leadership of Ayatollah Khamenei. The official underlined that the year 2017 had been named as year of convergence by Ilham Aliyev adding “in collaboration with the Islamic Republic of Iran, we seek to implement plans to bring about more consanguinity.”

We believe that the Islamic world requires more synthesis since fights between Muslims will merely harm them and please enemies.

Sheikulislam Pashazade went on to add that those who exploit titles of ‘religion’ and ‘Islam’ for their own individual purposes need to be confronted with; “in the name of Islam, terrorists are destroying the ancient culture of Muslims and while we need to preserve the Islamic culture by conducting relevant activities through UNESCO.
