TEHRAN, Jun. 19 (MNA) – Iran’s national volleyball outfit conceded a defeat against Russia to end career at 2017 FIVB World League.

On Saturday evening, Iranian volleyball players met Russia in their last group-stage match of the 28th edition of the prestigious international event in Poland.

Persians suffered a 3-0 (26-24, 25-18 and 25-18) in the face of the Russian squad who maintained the upper hand throughout the match.

In the opening week of the tournament, Kolaković’s boys lost to host Italy and Brazil while they prevailed over Poland. National Iranian athletes secured victories over Belgium and Argentina in second week debuts in Tehran and failed to overcome Serbia.

The third week of FIVB World League saw Iran’s team performing far away from expectations as they lost three consecutive matches against the US, Poland and Russia all with the same 3-0 result.
