Iran to implement 148 mining development plans

TEHRAN, Aug. 20 (MNA) — Some 148 projects in mines and mineral industries would be developed during the Fourth Five-Year Socio Economic and Cultural Development Plan, noted Saturday, deputy head of Iran Mines and Mineral Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMMIDRO) of the Ministry of Industries and Mines Iraj Akbarieh.

By the end of the development plans, the amount of the raw steel, aluminum and copper to be produced from these development projects would hit 28.9 million tons, 710,000 tons and 422,000 tons respectively, he said.

 

He added that the cement and the iron ore concentrate to be produced in the same period are slated to reach 12 million tons and 44.1 million tons correspondingly.

 

Commenting on the investments made in the sector, the official maintained that in addition to 60,000 billion rials, about 8,969 million dollars in foreign currency would be needed for implementation of the projects.
