Shamkhani, Putin’s envoy to meet on Syria

TEHRAN, Feb. 04 (MNA) – Alexander Lavrentiev, Putin’s Special Envoy on Syrian Crisis will arrive in Tehran on Sunday to talk to secretary of and Leader’s representative to Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.

Mr. Shamkhani had been acting as coordinator of Iran-Russia Syrian cooperation and military action since the two countries worked with Bashar al-Assad to save him inside Syria in power. The Sunday’s visit seeks to address the same issue as well as advancing the political initiatives both sides prepare for Syria. The meeting is also to address intelligence and security issues.

Lavrentiev will inform Shamkhani with President Putin’s views on the strategies to fight terrorism and end the crisis in Syria as well as a couple of other issues related to bilateral relations.
