Top decisions made for next Mustafa Prize

TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) – Secretary of Policy Making Council of Mustafa Prize revealed new decisions made for the second edition of Mustafa Prize.

Mahdi Safarinia said the process of registration of Khadem Al-Mustafa which is the official badge of investment and endowment Fund of Mustafa Prize as well as registration of the Prize itself is being followed at the bureau of Industrial Properties.

According to the Public Relations Department of Mustafa Prize, Safarinia during the official meeting of policy making council on Saturday, December 26, revealed three main decisions made in the sixth meeting of policy making council.

First, he said, a secretariat report was presented; second, the officials considered selecting universities of Muslim countries as the main members of the present council. The third was the membership of International Islamic Organizations in policy making council. At the first edition, Islamic development Bank and Islamic World’s Academy of Sciences were cooperating and at the second edition Islamic Development Bank and COMSTECH will play a role.

"Benefactors who sponsor at least one of the sources of the prize can be supervisor member of the council, he said, adding that organizations were previously restricted to introduce only one candidate but the limitation will be removed for the next edition; jury groups will also continue their task,” Safarinia added.

He also referred to the amount of the Prize and noted that the amount would not change for the next edition.

Dr. Mohammad Reza Aref also made the remarks during the meeting of the Policy Making Council of Mustafa Prize.

He informed that five awards will be granted to top scientists of the Islamic world in the next round.

Aref, member of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, said, “Mustafa Prize is established based on the strategy of developing science and technology and aims at strengthening the position of Iran as the pioneer of science and technology in the region.”
