Iran ready to boost coop. with Pakistan in all fields

TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) – Secretary of SNSC Ali Shamkhani in a Wed. meeting with his Pakistani counterpart said Iran is ready to take mutual steps with Pakistan in political, security, defense and economic fields without any limits.

“Iran-Pakistan common security and defense concerns in many important issues such as fight against terrorism, border security, preventing the spread of extremism and violence as well as regional security cooperation can set the stage for expanding bilateral relations between the two countries,” Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said on Wednesday in a meeting with Pakistani National Security Adviser General Naseer Khan Janjua in Islamabad.

While hailing Pakistani government for its diplomatic tact over their refusal to join the military aggression in Yemen crisis, Shamkhani added that it is imperative for Islamic countries to engage in dialogs and refuse to choose non-peaceful solutions to conflicts in order to prevent the meddling of other countries who are not benevolent toward Muslims.

“A change of government in Pakistan will not exert any effect on the Islamic Republic’s unchanging strategy on expanding all-out relations with Islamabad,” said the Iranian senior official.

Noting the unique position of Iran and Pakistan ports in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea, Shamkhani highlighted the need for serious talks on creating additional geopolitical context between the two countries, adding such an approach would first activate the numerous economic potentials in both nations.

The Iranian top security official also extended his deepest sympathy and regrets over the deadly earthquake that hit Pakistan on Monday, saying Iran is ready to provide immediate humanitarian aid and relief assistance to the quake-hit areas.

Ali Shamkhani is scheduled to hold meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, during his two-day visit to Islamabad. Shamkhani is also slated to attend a joint press conference with Sartaj Aziz later on Wednesday.
