“We sponsor young members’ new ideas,” the head of scientific branch of Basij Organization in Bushehr Province of Iran told the reporters in the ceremony held to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the Liberation of Khorramshahr in which an ultralight aircraft, made by young members of the organization was unveiled and testflied.
Hamzeh Sheikhiani also boasted the previous projects supported by Basij Organization during the last years and called them an honor for the province.
Five and a half meter long, the handmade aircraft is made of an alloy of Aluminum and its height is 2.15 meter, weighing 240 kilograms. The 2 seat fixed-wing aircraft was designed in 2013 and after being sponsored by Basij it was manufactured by local students.
“These kinds of aircrafts are mainly used for mapping, aerial surveying, sightseeing, photography, and piloting instruction,” the co-inventor of the plane said.
