Iranian student makes SAR drone

TEHRAN, May 23 (MNA) – An Iranian student won the second place in new ideas competition for making a search and rescue drone.

A student of Iran’s Amir Kabir University of Technology Hossein Goudarzi won the second place in the third round of Idea Bazaar competition in which entrepreneurs, investors and scouts look for brilliant young ideas.

Goudarzi says his SAR drone is capable of operating under any weather conditions to rescue people stuck in remote areas or send video images to facilitate monitoring the hot spot.

In comparison with common models, Goudarzi holds, it can fly higher; around 19000 ft AGL (above ground level) controlled by an operator with a monitoring screen.

Low maintenance costs was the second merit of the drone as the young inventor mentioned adding that it is also capable of carrying a load of 30 kilograms.

The maximum speed of the drone is 50 mps which is affected by the weight of the load burdened on it.

The third plus point, Goudarzi attributed to his machine was the aerodynamic quality of it with high maneuvering abilities it gives to the operator.

The other benefit of the drone, as Goudarzi says, is the waterproof structure of it which after the fall into water would not sink floating on surface.

The imposed sanctions on Iran and Iranian research institutions and other sectors limited accessibility to the world’s latest technological developments necessitates welcoming more domestic innovative ideas. According to the participants these events are suitable platforms to introduce those ideas.
