Assembly of Experts to meet on Sept. 4-5

Following the death of former Assembly of Experts chairman Ayatollah Ali Meshkini on July 30, election of the new head is on the meeting’s agenda.

The first meeting was held on Feb 20.

The assembly, the fourth of its kind since the Islamic Revolution in 1979, is tasked with electing and supervising the Leader.

The AE members are elected for an eight-year term.
