Iran garners five more Paralympics medals

TEHRAN, Sept. 22 (MNA) -- Iran added five medals to its asset during the 12th Paralympic Games in the Greek capital, Athens, on September 21-22.

Javelin thrower Ali Naderi hoisted Iran's flag Wednesday.

 

Naderi won the gold in F55-56 class with a 35.3m throw, improving the Paralympics record by 2.64m.

 

The Iranian was rushed to emergency ward due to a minor injury.

 

Javad Hardani snatched a silver in men's F38 class discus with a 43.27m throw Wednesday.

 

Iran took one bronze in the shot put as Asghar Zarei-Nejad finished third in men's F40 category.

 

The shot putter recorded a 9.52m.

 

In 52kg weightlifting competitions, Gholamreza Chaltuk-Kar also won the bronze medal by raising 165kg.

 

Mohsen Amu-Aqaei stood on the lowest podium with a 9.69m throw in men's F33-34 class shot put.

 

Gold Winner Shoots Off

 

Iranian marksman Enayatollah Bokharaei, who has Atlanta and Sydney golds under his belt failed to join SH1 air gun finalists Wednesday.

 

The shooter, who had repeatedly recorded perfect 600 points stood 22nd as he collected 596 points in Marco Polo Hall.
