Dust pollution to reach Tehran Sunday

Dust pollution to reach Tehran Sunday

TEHRAN, Aug. 1 (MNA) – Islamic Republic of Iran Meteorological Organization has predicted that dust pollution will reach Tehran and Qom provinces on Sunday.

“The dust in Kermanshah, Kordestan, Hamadan, Markazi and… provinces will continue till Sunday and (then) will affect Tehran and Qom provinces less severely,” IRIMO announced on Saturday.

The IRIMO predicted on Wednesday that a large mass of dust over Iraq would enter the south and southwest of Iran and reduce visibility over the following three days.

The dust pollution in the south and southwest of the country will gradually decrease late Saturday but pollution will remain at a dangerous level in Hormozgan and southeast of Fars province till Sunday, IRMO added.

IRMO also advised the citizens of these regions to avoid open spaces and unnecessary travel.

The dust arising from deserts in Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Syria has covered the southwestern provinces of Iran on several occasions but is now affecting large swathes of Iran.
