Iran on brink of advancing to FIFA U-17

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) -- Iran will play Syria in the AFC U-16 quarter-final on Sunday to secure a berth at the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Iran completed the group stage by beating host Uzbekistan, Bahrain, and Singapore.

Iran coach Ali Doustimehr has a fully fit squad at his disposal as they look forward to continue their impressive start of the tournament, according to AFC.com.

“The team is physically fit, and more importantly, they are psychologically ready,” he noted.

“We have a very good team spirit and are ready to fight to win a place in the next round of the World Cup. Iranians always have a good mood and high spirits and are always ready to fight,” he added.

“We have a good plan. We have watched Syria and have information about them, and we hope our journey will not end here,” he said.
