Stating a record of bilateral trade over the past several years, Parviz Samadi said that it had stood at $40 million in 2000 while the figure soared to $150 million last year, adding that the rising trend is onward.
Samadi said that the two countries have already held seven meetings of the joint economic commission the latest of which was held in April this year in Tehran.
Iran has so far set up several trade fairs in Tajikistan in different fields including construction business and Iranian-made goods.
Iranian and Tajik companies have implemented several joint venture projects in a tractor manufacturing plant, vegetable oil factory, chicken breeding, mineral water and beverages, and low-consumption lamps, IRNA reported.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has the construction of large projects such as Esteqlal tunnel as well as Sangtudeh 2 dam underway in Tajikistan.
Iran was the first country which officially recognized Tajikistan’s Independence in 1997, Samadi noted.
