Intl. Photography Biennial of the Islamic World opens in Tehran

TEHRAN, May 6 (MNA) -- The First International Photography Biennial of the Islamic World opened at the Saba Art and Cultural Institute on Monday.

Organized by the Iranian Academy of Arts, the exhibit will be held at the institute located on Mozaffar St., Taleqani Ave, near the Felestin Square.

 

 

Illustrators’ Book of the Year to be unveiled at IAF

 

TEHRAN -- Illustrators’ Book of the Year will be unveiled during a ceremony at Momayyez Gallery of Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) on May 10.

 

The gallery is located on Musavi St., Taleqani Ave.

 

 

 

 

PMCA hosts Turkish photographer exhibit

 

TEHRAN -- Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art (PMCA) is playing host to a photo exhibition by Turkish photographer Süleyman Gündüz which began today.

 

Entitled “The First Qibla”, the showcase contains photos from Bait-ul-Muqaddas highlighting its architecture.

 

The exhibit will run until May 20 at the museum located on Mozaffar St., Taleqani Ave near the Felestin Square.

 

 

Iranian author to participate in IBBY opening ceremony

 

TEHRAN -- Iranian member of the Hans Christian Andersen Jury of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), Zohreh Qaiini will participate in the opening ceremony of IBBY’s Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark on September 7.

 

The winners of the 2008 Hans Christian Andersen Awards will be given prizes during the ceremony.

 

Iranian children’s book writer Zohreh Qaiini was appointed president of the jury for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards for 2007 and 2008.

 

The award is organized by the Switzerland-based International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY).

 

 

Book on Persian grammar published in Spain

 

TEHRAN -- “Gramatica Persa”, a book on grammar of the Persian language by Saeid Hushangi was published in Spain.

 

There is also a chapter on phonetics and offers phonetic transcriptions of Persian words.

 

Sponsored by Iran’s cultural attaché office in Madrid, the book was published by Ibersaf publications.

 

 

INLA to buy books by foreign-based Iranian writers

 

TEHRAN -- Iran’s National Library and Archives will buy children books written by foreign-based Iranian authors.

 

When necessary, the books will be translated into Persian to be available for Iranian readers.

 

 

Iran children books on display at Kuwaiti schools

 

TEHRAN -- Iran is holding children’s books exhibition were in Kuwait.

 

The showcase which displays over 1500 books is being held in Iranian schools of Kuwait from May 3 to 10.
