Pezeshkian congrats natl. wrestling teams’ Asian C’ship title

TEHRAN, Apr. 13 (MNA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has congratulated the country’s freestyle and Greco-Roman national wrestling teams after they claimed championship titles at the 2026 Asian Wrestling Championships.

In a message on Monday, he described the victories as a clear reflection of the determination, resilience, and unbreakable spirit of Iran’s youth.

Pezeshkian said the dominant performances once again showcased the strength, willpower, and high capabilities of Iranian athletes.

Emphasizing the government’s support for national sports teams, he offered congratulations to the Iranian nation, the athletes, coaches, technical staff, and all those involved in securing the achievements.

The president added that these back‑to‑back successes demonstrate that Iranian youth, relying on faith, perseverance, and hard work, will not be stopped under any circumstances and will continue advancing proudly on the path of excellence.

The Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championships were held from April 10 to 12 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where Iran claimed the team title with four gold medals, one silver, and three bronze medals.

The Greco‑Roman Championships took place from April 6 to 8, also in Bishkek, with Iran winning all ten medals across ten weight categories in a commanding overall performance.

In the Greco‑Roman team rankings, Iran secured first place with 195 points, followed by host nation Kyrgyzstan with 153 points and Uzbekistan with 136.
