Baghdad thanks Tehran, urges end to regional war

TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Iraq’s foreign minister praised Iran’s role in enabling Iraqi oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, while reaffirming Baghdad’s commitment to peaceful solutions in the region.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Kazem Al Sadeq in Baghdad and thanked Iran for its cooperation in facilitating the passage of Iraqi oil tankers.

During the meeting, Fuad Hussein expressed appreciation for Iran’s role in enabling Iraqi oil shipments to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining this cooperation in the near future, describing it as aligned with the shared interests of both countries.

The Iraqi foreign minister further said that Iraq’s policy is based on avoiding war and working toward ending ongoing conflicts, adding that Baghdad consistently supports peaceful solutions.

Fuad Hussein also stated that the region requires an approach based on open dialogue.
