Police seize over 1 tons of narcotics in SE Iran

TEHRAN, Feb. 05 (MNA) – Iranian border police commander Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi says that over 1 tons of illicit drugs have been seized in the southeastern Iranian province.

The commander said on Monday that Border Guards in Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan province received a report about significant amounts of drugs were being imported by the drug traffickers from the other side of the borders.

He stated that the Border Guard agents conducted a targeted ambush in their routes and observed the traffickers who were transporting drug cargo into the country.

Goudarzi added that the drug traffickers started shooting at the border guards which the agents immediately fought back.

He noted that the border guards seized 1,083 kilograms of drugs, including opium industrial drug in this operation.
